Losing interpersonal skills

We are a disassociative society in this age of computer and text. I find that more and more people are not stepping from behind their machines in and order to reconnect with humanity. Instead they are turning to the computer as a way to ease the anxiety that goes along with some of the things we need to do in person. Such as "the talk" or anything personal...we now days just type and blurt the things we need to say to a human being via text, aim or email. Gone are the days of communicating in person...Now we send a nasty, happy, or incoherent email that opens a long back and forth dialogue when we could just call the person or go see them. But why? In this day and age when liquid courage fails most.. do they find their voice behind the anoymous screens where facial expressions and emotions are replaced by caps, smilies :), and a rapid succession of punctuation marks !?%$#...Grrr...Call me old fashion..but i enjoy sitting with someone with a cocktail and blabbering about any and everything..U walk away with an invigorating sense of happiness...But when u get up from a computer after talking on aim for an hour u feel drained. Let's reconnect people.
